ISRAEL IS GETTING ITS FIRST DRIVERLESS METRO: Israel is moving ahead with plans for a massive new underground metro system across the Tel Aviv area, and the trains will operate completely without drivers. The planned network will have 3 lines stretching about 150 km (93 miles), with 109 stations connecting 24 cities and municipalities across central Israel. The project has now entered another major stage, with NTA opening approximately NIS 30 billion in contracts for the trains, stations, electrical systems and technology needed to operate the network.
