Yesterday was one of those special days when the entire Me'aras HaMachpelah in Chevron is opened to Jewish visitors — including the Hall of Yitzchak and Rivka, which is normally inaccessible to Jews. The special opening was held for Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul, marking the beginning of the _Yemei HaRachamim VeHaSelichos_ (Days of Repentance). Under the arrangements at Me'aras HaMachpelah, Jews are granted access to the entire complex on only a small number of designated days each year.
