The NYPD plans to sign a 3-year, $750,500 contract with Israeli firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-powered surveillance system that mimics a cell tower to identify nearby phones and help locate suspects. It can be mounted on vehicles or drones or carried in a backpack. Only 4 NYPD members can operate it.
