The Government has announced that violent criminals detained in secure hospitals will no longer receive benefits. Regulations laid in Parliament today mean convicted killers and serious sex offenders held under hospital orders will lose payments worth over £800 a month, ending the loophole that let them claim while the NHS funded their care.
