*Lakers Sold For Record $12.5 Billion To Josh Kushner And Bob Iger* The Los Angeles Lakers are changing hands again, with billionaire investor Josh Kushner, the younger brother of Jared Kushner, and former Disney CEO Bob Iger leading a group purchasing a controlling interest in the team. The deal values the Lakers at approximately $12.5 billion, the highest valuation ever for a sports franchise. Both Kushner and Iger are Jewish. Kushner is the founder of Thrive Capital and comes from the prominent Kushner family, while Iger spent decades leading Disney and remains one of the most recognizable figures in the entertainment industry. The sale is particularly remarkable because billionaire Mark Walter, who also owns the Dodgers, only acquired majority control of the Lakers last year in a deal valuing the franchise at approximately $10 billion.
