*Los Angeles Wants 1,700 Extra Buses For 2028 Olympics* With the 2028 Olympics now less than two years away, Los Angeles officials say they need $2 billion in federal transportation funding to keep millions of visitors moving around Southern California during the Games. A major part of the plan calls for bringing in approximately 1,700 additional buses, on top of Metro's existing fleet. Officials are also planning special traffic lanes and pedestrian improvements to help athletes, officials and spectators reach venues without overwhelming L.A.'s already-busy roads and freeways. Five Los Angeles-area members of Congress met with transportation officials in West Hollywood Wednesday, warning that time is running out to secure the money needed to put the massive transportation plan in place. For Angelenos wondering what traffic will look like during the Olympics, officials are making one thing clear: getting people out of their cars and onto buses and trains will be a major part of the plan.
