*Paramount Considers Leaving California Amid Warner Bros. Merger Lawsuit* Paramount is considering moving operations out of California in response to the state’s lawsuit challenging its proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, according to company officials. The possibility comes as California is already struggling to keep Hollywood productions in the state. Many movies and television shows have shifted elsewhere, where taxes, regulations and production costs can be lower and incentives more attractive. Critics of California’s progressive policies say the state’s high taxes and regulations have helped drive Hollywood jobs elsewhere, although industry changes and generous incentives offered by other states are also major factors. For a studio as closely associated with Hollywood as Paramount, even considering a move sends a powerful message about California’s increasingly difficult relationship with its signature industry.
