DANGEROUS HEAT HEADING TOWARD LOS ANGELES A significant heat wave is heading toward Southern California, and this time even parts of Los Angeles that are normally much cooler will be feeling the heat. The San Fernando Valley and other inland communities will be hit hardest, with some locations potentially climbing well above 105 degrees. But the heat won't be limited to the Valley. Even the city could approach 100 degrees. Even the beach won't escape the heat, as temperatures in Santa Monica could approach the mid to upper 80s by late week, unusually hot for an area that typically benefits from the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean. The heat comes as Southern California heads toward September, historically the hottest month of the year for the Los Angeles Basin.
