After months of anger from Jewish conservatives, JD Vance is turning to Shabbat dinner. The Vice President is reportedly hosting a private dinner this week in an effort to repair increasingly strained ties with Jewish Republicans. Vance has faced backlash over his increasingly critical rhetoric toward Israel and his continued embrace of Tucker Carlson, even as Carlson has platformed figures accused of antisemitism and repeatedly attacked Israel. Vance has refused calls to distance himself from Carlson, while warning that U.S. policy cannot be “subservient” to Israel and criticizing the Israeli government. Now, amid a growing rift with Jewish conservatives, a Shabbat dinner appears to be his latest attempt to mend the relationship.
