Meaningful Minute — video status
Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, something remarkable happens at the Kotel. Thousands of handwritten prayers are carefully removed from between its ancient stones to make room for those that will come in the new year. They aren’t read or thrown away. Each note is treated with respect and held in a genizah until it can be properly buried according to Jewish law. This year, prayers reached the Kotel from more than 140 countries around the world, including Iran, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq.
