American Airlines flight AA1239, a Boeing 737-800 (N812NN), declared an emergency after a suspected right-engine fuel leak shortly after departing Boston (BOS) for Chicago O’Hare (ORD) on October 5. The aircraft reached 30,000 feet before returning safely to Boston, where emergency crews were requested. All 160 people onboard were safe, and passengers were transferred to a replacement 737-800. The aircraft swap resulted in a massive 17-hour delay before passengers finally reached Chicago.
