🇺🇸🇵🇹🇨🇭 SWISS 777 DIVERTS TO THE AZORES AFTER EMERGENCY ODOR SWISS flight LX9, a Boeing 777-300ER flying from Chicago 🇺🇸 to Zurich 🇨🇭, declared an emergency over the Atlantic and diverted to Lajes Field 🇵🇹 in the Azores. The diversion was caused by a strong, unidentified odor in the economy cabin, with around 5 passengers and 1 crew member experiencing eye irritation, nausea or headaches. The aircraft landed safely with 222 passengers and 16 crew members aboard; those affected were checked by medical personnel and did not require further treatment. SWISS sent a replacement 777 from Zurich to bring the stranded passengers onward, while the original aircraft remains in Lajes for inspection. The replacement aircraft’s reassignment also caused today’s LX8/LX9 Chicago flights to be canceled Runway 972: Boarding Pass to the Hottest Aviation Buzz ⤵️ https://chat.whatsapp.com/HT94R0fqoR617VUsxr3rwX?mode=h1qrt
