🇺🇸✈️ THE ONLY PLANE ALLOWED OVER NYC AFTER 9/11 On September 12, 2001, a Civil Air Patrol Cessna 172 was authorized to fly over New York City to photograph Ground Zero. The aircraft made four orbits over Manhattan, capturing more than 40 aerial photographs of the destruction. The images were provided to government agencies to help assess the damage and support the recovery effort. The aircraft, N9344L, is now preserved at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
