🇨🇦✈️ WHEN CANADA SPRANG INTO ACTION AFTER 9/11 When U.S. airspace closed on 9/11, Canada diverted 224 aircraft carrying more than 33,000 passengers to airports across the country. Communities suddenly had to house and feed thousands of unexpected passengers — something they had never prepared for. The Canadian Air Force sprang into action, rushing supplies between airports, including thousands of cots, blankets and other essential equipment. In Gander alone, 38 aircraft carrying about 6,600 people landed, nearly doubling the town’s population.
