“I picked that beautiful flag up off that ground.” Marine veteran and double amputee Tony Mullis stopped on a Georgia highway after spotting a U.S. flag on the ground beside the busy interstate. Mullis, who lost both legs after an explosion during his second tour in Afghanistan, got out of his SUV to retrieve the flag. He said seeing the flag on the ground “broke my heart” because it reminded him of those who sacrificed for the country.
