From an Unused Shaitel to a Woman’s Renewed Confidence: Adena Parnes’s Remarkable Chesed Initiative For many women, an old shaitel sitting in the back of a closet may no longer seem useful. But through a special Lakewood chesed initiative founded by Adena Parnes, that same shaitel can be transformed into a beautiful source of dignity, confidence, and joy for another woman. Adena, an experienced shaitel macher with more than 20 years in the field, launched the initiative in loving memory of her father, a”h, who passed away seven years ago. What began as a meaningful tribute to his neshamah has grown into an extraordinary project that has already helped hundreds of women obtain beautiful shaitels. “Over the years, I noticed how many women had good shaitels sitting unused,” Adena explained. “At the same time, there were women who desperately needed a shaitel but could not afford the cost of purchasing a new one.
