Letter: The Forgotten Middle Class: Our Precious Children It’s Wednesday morning, and I just drove my children to school. I watched the buses coming and going, stopping at corners and picking up our beautiful children for another year. Most of our children are starting school today. Most. Not all. Because there is another group—the struggling middle class of our children. We often hear how the financial middle class gets squeezed from both sides: they make too much to qualify for help, but not enough to comfortably survive.
