The Road Ahead: Lakewood Completes Major Infrastructure Projects [PHOTOS] In its continuous effort to improve local infrastructure and public safety, Lakewood Township has completed two crucial infrastructure projects. The key east-west artery of Pine Street – located near many residential neighborhoods and office towers – saw New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) and New Jersey American Water (NJAW) replace aged underground gas and water lines with new, higher capacity infrastructure. Subsequently, Pine Street was repaved and restriped between Route 9 and New Hampshire Avenue. The freshly paved road has brightly striped lanes; turning lanes; and crosswalks – plus a full added lane between Avenue of the States and Washington Avenue – in order to enhance traffic flow and safety.
