*CRUMPSALL:* Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced an independent public inquiry into the October 2025 terrorist attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester. The inquiry follows a recommendation from the chief coroner and will allow sensitive national security and MI5 evidence to be examined behind closed doors, which is not possible under a standard inquest.
