Mayor of Greater Manchester Bev Craig has pledged to ‘bring banks back to the high street’ as part of efforts to tackle declining town centres and the cost of living crisis. The GMCA is working with Manchester Building Society to explore using public spaces such as libraries, leisure centres and Post Offices as community banking sites, restoring access to in-person services. The plans were announced at Greater Manchester’s first Cost of Living Summit, where businesses, charities, community groups and the public sector were urged to sign a new Cost of Living Commitment. GMCA research found 67% of residents say their cost of living has risen in the past month, with around 1 in 3 buying less food. JOIN TMS: *https://wa.me/447776235803*
