*🇺🇸-CENTCOM Says Hormuz Shipping Lanes Cleared Of Iranian Mines* CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper says U.S. forces have cleared Iranian naval mines from the international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. Cooper said the lanes are now open and “momentum is building.” U.S. forces have helped pass nearly 1,500 vessels in recent months. Those ships carried about 750 million barrels of oil. Cooper said Iran has exported zero barrels of oil since the U.S. naval blockade resumed in mid-July. Navy divers, SEALs, and air power from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps handled the mine-clearing work. Cooper called the conditions dangerous, but said the job got done. U.S. forces also turned back about 75 vessels trying to break the blockade and disabled three that did not comply. Shipping through Hormuz still sits well below pre-war levels, but the military says the main commercial lanes are now free of Iranian mines.
