*🇺🇸-Reds Slugger Hits Home Run After Becoming U.S. Citizen* Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suárez missed two games this week to complete the U.S. naturalization process. The Venezuela native, who has played more than a decade in Major League Baseball and lives in Miami, passed the required English, civics, and interview exams. In his first game back against the Milwaukee Brewers, Suárez crushed a 408 foot home run. Teammates marked the occasion by changing his walk up song to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” The blast was his 21st homer of the season and tied him with Ken Griffey Jr. for ninth place on the Reds’ all time home run list. The moment mixed personal milestone with on field success. Suárez, a fan favorite known for his power and clubhouse presence, returned to the lineup and immediately produced. The patriotic greeting from teammates and the new walk up music turned a routine at bat into a visible celebration of his new citizenship.
