*🇺🇸-Suspect Charged After Stabbing Asian, Jewish Men in Broad-Daylight Upper West Side Attack; NYPD Probes Hate Crime* Two men were stabbed in broad daylight Thursday afternoon on Manhattan's Upper West Side, in an attack police are investigating as a possible hate crime. A 57-year-old Asian man was stabbed in the torso near West 84th Street and Central Park West, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. A 50-year-old Jewish man was stabbed minutes later near West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, close to a church and synagogue. Both were hospitalized in stable condition and are expected to survive. The suspect, 51-year-old Raul Morales, fled the scene before barricading himself in an apartment on Amsterdam Avenue, where NYPD's Emergency Service Unit negotiated his surrender around 2:45 p.m. Tisch credited a bystander with helping officers locate him. Witnesses said the suspect shouted "Allahu Akbar" during both attacks, prompting the NYPD to investigate a possible hate crime motive. Tisch said mental health may have been a factor, though Morales reportedly has seven prior arrests. Police say he had no known connection to either victim. Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the attacks "hateful and despicable," while City Council Speaker Julie Menin described the incident as antisemitic. The investigation continues.
