NBC and ABC Decline Live Broadcast of Trump’s Primetime Election Security Address Major broadcast networks NBC and ABC announced they will not air President Donald Trump’s scheduled 9 p.m. ET primetime address live on their flagship channels. The speech, focused on election security four months ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, will instead be available on their streaming platforms NBC News NOW and ABC News Live along with full coverage on cable news, C-SPAN, and the White House YouTube channel. Networks cited editorial discretion in their decision, weighing the speech’s news value against regularly scheduled primetime programming. Reports indicate Trump planned to discuss voting integrity and potential foreign interference, prompting some Democrats to urge networks to skip the broadcast over concerns about unsubstantiated claims. CBS is expected to follow a similar approach with limited or streaming-only coverage.
