*🇺🇸-Kiryas Joel Petitions Woodbury For Nearly 500 Acres* A new annexation petition is asking to move about 497.83 acres from the Town and Village of Woodbury into Kiryas Joel and the Town of Palm Tree. The request covers 82 tax lots. Woodbury officials say it arrived in late August, after an earlier roughly 197-acre petition tied to the Ace Farm area. Kiryas Joel remains the fastest-growing community in Orange County. Its population has jumped more than 40 percent in recent years as housing construction continues. A past annexation with Monroe more than a decade ago added over 100 acres and brought the same local concerns now being raised again: density, water, sewer, traffic, and environmental impact. An environmental review and public hearing are the next steps. Woodbury’s mayor and town supervisor have already put out a joint statement on the filing.
