*🇺🇸-Fed Governor Lisa Cook Pushes Back On Trump Removal Effort* Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook’s lawyer told the White House that mortgage fraud claims against her “remain unfounded and untrue.” Attorney Abbe Lowell sent the letter Wednesday, just before a White House deadline. President Trump is again considering removing Cook from the Fed board over alleged false statements on 2021 mortgage documents. The administration says she listed properties in Michigan and Georgia as primary residences around the same time. Lowell says any mistake was inadvertent, not intentional fraud, and does not amount to legal “cause” to fire a Fed governor. Cook has not been charged. The Supreme Court blocked Trump’s first attempt to remove her in June, saying she was not given a proper chance to respond. That ruling left the door open for a new process. Trump has pressed the Fed to cut interest rates. Cook is a Biden appointee whose term runs through 2038.
