*🇺🇸-Woodside Woman Charged After Hicksville Senior Wired Nearly $1 Million* A 70-year-old Hicksville woman wired $919,200 after scammers told her she was tied to a crime in India and needed to pay to fix it, Nassau County Police said. The calls started in late June. Between June 29 and July 27, she withdrew the money and sent it out. The same people came back Tuesday, Sept. 1, this time telling her to buy another $300,000 in gold bars and coins. That is when she realized it was a scam and called police. Detectives arrested Fnu Tierigeli, 32, of Woodside, Queens, around 5 p.m. Wednesday. She is charged with attempted second-degree grand larceny and was due in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday. Police are asking families to talk to older relatives, neighbors, and friends about these schemes. Anyone who thinks they were targeted can call the Nassau County Fraud and Forgery Section at 516-573-2815 or 911.
