*🇺🇸-Just In: Army Secretary Resigns Over Transformation Dispute* Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has resigned following months of friction with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. A source familiar with the decision told Fox News national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin that Driscoll raised concerns about Army transformation and readiness. Those efforts were blocked, the source said, when Hegseth fired the generals responsible for carrying them out. Driscoll, 39, is the youngest person to hold the post. A former Army officer and Iraq veteran, he was confirmed in February 2025 and is a close ally of Vice President JD Vance. He had publicly stated in April that he had no plans to leave after Hegseth dismissed Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and other senior officers. Reports throughout August indicated Driscoll was preparing to depart by year’s end or sooner. His family had already moved out of the official Army secretary residence. The resignation leaves the Army without a Senate-confirmed civilian leader at a time when the service has no permanent chief of staff and faces ongoing demands for modernization, including greater use of drones.
