*🇺🇸-Hassett Calls August Jobs Report A Blockbuster As Data Centers Drive Utility Hiring* The U.S. added 162,000 jobs in August, well above what economists had forecast. National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett told CNBC’s Squawk on the Street the number was a “really blockbuster” surprise that beat every published estimate. He said factory-building employment is already up 90,000 since President Trump took office, and pointed to a “massive explosion” in utility jobs tied to data center construction. Hassett noted that power generation had grown only about 20% since 1970. The current surge in utility construction and hiring, he said, is something new.
