*🇺🇸-President Trump Thanks Morocco’s King as Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway Named in His Honor* U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social thanking Morocco’s King Mohammed VI for naming the Tiznit–Dakhla Expressway after him. Trump called the decision “such a great honor” and said he looked forward to traveling the full length of the highway “hopefully soon.” The expressway, also referred to as the President Donald J. Trump Highway, stretches roughly 555–1,055 kilometers (about 345–655 miles) from Tiznit in southern Morocco through Laayoune to Dakhla in the Moroccan Sahara. The approximately $1 billion project aims to improve transport links and economic development across the region. The announcement comes against the backdrop of longstanding U.S.-Morocco relations, including the 2020 Abraham Accords in which the Trump administration recognized Morocco’s sovereignty claims over Western Sahara.
