Israel is preparing for a significant expansion of its naval forces amid growing maritime threats and a broader regional naval buildup.
The INS Drakon, Israel’s sixth submarine, is scheduled to arrive from Germany tomorrow following roughly 12 years of development. At 74 meters and approximately 2,600 tons, it will be Israel’s largest submarine and is expected to enter operational service within several months.
The Navy is also moving ahead with plans for five new Reshef-class corvettes, with the first vessel expected to arrive within three to four years.
