Mexican drug cartels are rapidly expanding their use of advanced drones, with U.S. intelligence warning that fighters returning from the Russia-Ukraine war are transferring battlefield drone tactics to criminal organizations, according to The Washington Post. Cartels are reportedly recruiting Colombian veterans to train drone operators, studying ways to evade electronic jamming and acquiring larger aircraft capable of carrying heavier explosives. Mexican intelligence officials say at least one cartel has drones capable of carrying more than 150 pounds, while another has purchased Chinese-made drones that can be fitted with rifles.
