A federal judge on Friday declined to immediately block President Trump’s new executive order restricting birthright citizenship, but sharply questioned whether it can survive legal scrutiny. U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman said she could not block the August 6 order because the existing lawsuit challenges Trump’s earlier 2025 order, not the new one. She will allow the challengers to update their case and quickly renew their request to block it.
