The Chinese government has taken possession of components from an Australian F-35 stealth fighter after a UPS shipment bound for the United States was unexpectedly diverted to Hong Kong, according to Bloomberg. The shipment, sent in late May for inspection and possible repair or disposal, included a cockpit canopy and weapons-bay door coated with radar-absorbing material used in the F-35’s stealth system. The Pentagon says it is working with U.S. authorities and industry partners to recover the components and investigate how the diversion occurred.
