U.S. job growth surged in August, with employers adding 162,000 jobs, nearly triple the 56,000 increase economists had expected, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1%, Reuters reports.
July’s payroll figure was also revised sharply higher, from a previously reported loss of 23,000 jobs to a gain of 21,000.
The stronger-than-expected report keeps the possibility of a Federal Reserve interest-rate hike later this month on the table.
