A court in Krakow has ordered the release on bail of two Israeli women, ages 23 and 24, who had been held in custody for nearly four months on suspicion of smuggling about 100 kilograms of khat into Poland.
The women were arrested in mid-June after arriving in Krakow on a flight from Israel. Authorities found the khat, divided between their suitcases. The two are barred from leaving Poland and must report to a local police station each week while legal proceedings continue. If convicted, they could face between three and 23 years in prison.
