Israel’s Chareidi parties are considering a dramatic strategy that could see them begin the next Knesset term in the opposition and decline to recommend either Prime Minister Netanyahu or Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot for prime minister, according to Chareidi political sources the JP reports. Under the idea being discussed, the parties would remain outside the coalition while the next government deals with the draft crisis, oppose legislation they find unacceptable, and potentially join the government once the issue is resolved. The proposal has not been formally approved by Shas or UTJ and has not received formal rabbinic approval.
