Shin Bet chief David Zini has ordered the reopening of investigations into Arab rioters involved in the violent unrest across Israel during Operation Shomer HaChomos in May 2021, more than five years after the riots. The Shin Bet will revisit unresolved cases and gather new intelligence to identify suspects who escaped prosecution. During the riots, Arab mobs carried out arson attacks, blocked roads, and assaulted Jewish residents, particularly in Lod and Akko.
