Twenty-five Chabad yeshiva bochurim were detained at Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday morning after arriving from New York, where they had spent the past year learning at the central Chabad yeshiva at 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. The bochurim were among approximately 80 students aboard the flight. Following passport control, authorities separated 25 of them and transferred them to a holding room over unresolved military draft status issues. Families who had been waiting at the airport to welcome their sons home after more than a year apart were left unable to reunite with them.
