The Flydubai co-pilot who attempted to crash a Tel Aviv-bound flight planned the terrorist attack for months and nearly carried it out in July, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Omani national Hamam al-Hammami deliberately sought flights to Israel, intending to incapacitate the captain and crash the plane into Ben Gurion Airport or another target. He abandoned his July attempt because he cared about a crew member aboard. During the later attack, he struck the captain with an axe and sent the aircraft into a dive before passengers and crew regained control.
