Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella has announced that his government will withdraw Colombia’s intervention in South Africa’s ICJ case against Israel, formally moving ahead with a position first announced before he took office. The announcement follows a meeting in Washington between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula. Sa’ar declared that “the friendship between Israel and Colombia is stronger than ever.” Last month, Colombia also recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
