IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir made an unprecedented visit to a Chareidi hesder yeshiva of the Derech Chaim network in Gan Yavne, which combines Torah learning with army service. The network's head called it the first time a Chief of Staff has visited a Chareidi yeshiva. "Our goal is for you to enter the military as haredi Jews and leave as haredi Jews," Zamir told the bochurim. "This is not merely a statement, but a commitment by the military and by me personally." He said commanders must be trained to respect the way of life of Chareidi soldiers.
