Saudi Arabia has turned to China for help as the Houthis expand their offensive in Yemen, asking Beijing to use its influence with Iran to rein in the terrorist group, Reuters reports, citing Iranian sources familiar with the discussions.
China subsequently pressed Tehran to intervene with the Houthis, as Riyadh faces growing pressure from Houthi advances around the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb. Beijing has major ties with both Saudi Arabia and Iran and previously helped broker the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
