Nearly 1,000 people were arrested across France over the weekend as violent clashes broke out during nationwide protests over the rising cost of living. Rioters set fires, blocked roads, and attacked police, despite the deployment of 70,000 officers.
The unrest also spread to Barcelona, several Italian cities, and Brussels, where protesters clashed with police, damaged property, and set barricades on fire.
