A former high-ranking CIA officer who was arrested after investigators found nearly 300 gold bars and about $2 million in cash at his home has pleaded guilty to wire fraud, admitting he also exposed information about a secret U.S. intelligence source to a foreign government official, NBC News reports.
David Rush admitted creating an elaborate fake classified program that prosecutors say he used to funnel tens of millions of government dollars for his own benefit, including $145 million transferred for luxury South Florida properties and vehicles and $1.8 million for private charter flights. Rush faces up to 20 years in prison.
