Senior police commanders issued a rare letter backing Commissioner Danny Levi and rejecting Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's charge that Levi ordered harsh violence against Chareidi protesters. "We have never heard from the Commissioner an instruction or statement calling for the use of unlawful violence," they wrote. The letter came a day after Ben Gvir made the claim in a High Court filing seeking to cancel an order barring him from intervening in police handling of protests. Levi's office hit back, calling the claims "serious, delusional and shameful allegations that cross every line."
