Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has called a snap general election for November 29 after his minority government suffered a series of parliamentary defeats, including over measures aimed at addressing Spain’s housing crisis.
Sánchez said he is seeking a “broader progressive majority” to push through his agenda. The election, originally not due until summer 2027, comes as his government faces mounting pressure over corruption scandals, the cost of living and immigration.
