Israel's Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara is urging the High Court to order the revocation of financial benefits for approximately 110,000 Israelis classified as IDF draft evaders, roughly 80% of whom are Chareidim. She accused the government of failing to fully enforce conscription laws. Shas chairman Aryeh Deri launched a furious attack, accusing Baharav-Miara of deliberately persecuting Torah learners just days before the elections. Calling her a "Kaplan activist," Deri accused her of attempting to bring the left to power and warned against what he described as her increasingly aggressive campaign against the Chareidi community.
