The Pentagon is preparing major U.S. military bases to operate independently for at least 90 days in the event of a large-scale war that cripples American power grids, supply chains, and critical infrastructure. The unprecedented preparations are part of a military initiative called FORTRESS, Fox News reports.
The plan includes independent electricity, water, fuel, and communications systems, strategic reserves of weapons and essential supplies, and preparations to convert civilian factories to military production. Pentagon officials warn that a future major conflict could involve multiple fronts and widespread disruptions inside the United States.
