🇺🇸🇻🇪 — REPORT: Maduro Asks U.S. Judge to Dismiss Drug Charges, Claims Head-of-State Immunity
- Ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro filed a motion Wednesday arguing he cannot be prosecuted because he is a sitting head of state.
- Prosecutors must respond by October 2. Judge Alvin Hellerstein will hear the motion November 17.
- If the case is not dismissed, trial is set for June 1, 2027. He has pleaded not guilty.
- Washington has not recognized Maduro as Venezuela’s legitimate president since 2019, weakening the immunity claim.
